Cob construction is an ancient form of construction using lumps of earth mixed with straw or grass and sand. Cob structures are built monolithically as opposed to Adobe where clay and straw are used to make bricks. Since there are no forms, ramming or bricks cob construction lends itself well to sculpted designs, arches, curved walls and other niches. Cob is environmentally friendly, sustainable and economical to build with.

Participants in this workshop can expect to help with one or more phases of cob construction on a structure being built at our school. The phase of construction being worked on will depend on the project and where we may be in the process. A timeline of construction phases will be discussed.

Come get muddy with us and learn to build a cute little cob cottage or maybe just a really cool pizza oven for your backyard.
