This entry level course is designed for students who want a solid foundation in basic survival and bushcraft skills. This course not only provides hands on instruction in potentially lifesaving wilderness survival skills but concepts that are useful in the event of a natural disaster as well. During this course students gain the knowledge and experience to meet basic survival challenges.
Students will learn several survival shelters, both primitive and modern, and how to construct them. Various woodcraft and bushcraft skills, tips and tricks will also be covered over the weekend.
This course is basically a repeat of our Basic Survival and Bushcraft course but this one’s just for the ladies.
Topics covered
- Fire – Several modern and primitive methods including Ferro rods and bowdrill.
- Shelter – 5 minute shelters, modern and primitive shelter construction
- Water – Locating and purifying with multiple methods
- Food – Traps and Wild Edibles
- Rescue – Signaling and Pocket Survival Kit (PSK) design
- Cordage – Making and using cordage from natural fibers
- Woodswoman – Unique challenges and solutions
This three day course will show you what to take into the wilderness with you and what to do if you find yourself without it.
Tent and hammock camping is available and students are encouraged to bring any gear they would like to use or try out. Porta potties, fire rings and firewood are on site. Most cel carriers have good reception. There is no electric, gas or water.
