Each year thousands of deer skins are discarded by hunters. Learn the art of turning raw hides into soft supple buckskin, the natural way. Braintan has many uses, and can be made into clothing, bags, hats, drums, etc.
During this entry level course students will learn the dry scrape method of tanning hides, and after three days of hard work they will leave with their very own freshly completed braintanned hide. Students will be guided through the entire process of fleshing, scraping, drying, braining, stretching and the final smoking of the hide.
This is a three day course. Working with raw hides is physically demanding and can be messy. Dress appropriately, gloves are recommended. Primitive camping on site is available.
